Best of eBay Week 3

Okay, so I took several (many) weeks off as the summer was starting because of family vacations and change of routine. But enough is enough and it is time to get back to what I love. Finding trash that someone will pay cash for. It still is unbelievable the quality items at the thrift store that can be resold.

Let’s take a look at some of the recent success on eBay.

J. Jill is not a brand that I was familiar with previously, but my bloggie friends at My Dear Trash have mentioned it many times. So why not try it? These 100% linen J. Jill tan capri pants size 12 were purchased for $3.99.

They were relisted a second week and sold for $8.99!

BCBG Max azaria is a similar story and after the success I heard others have had, I was thrilled to find this perfect condition shirt at the Goodwill that I visited in Colorado Springs. Yes, I love to visit thrift stores when I go somewhere else. So exciting to see what they have and how they are set up. I purchased this BCBG shirt for $4.99.

It sold the first week listed for $9.80!

Athletic wear was a first time venture for me these past few weeks and these orange Nike capri pants were purchased for $2.50 ($4.99 with 50% off).

They sold the second week listed for $8.99!

This teal North Face shirt was purchased for $1.75 ($3.49 with 50% off).

It sold the first week listed for $6.99!

Chico’s….Chico’s….Chico’s

Oh, for the love of Chico’s!!! This brand is one that always does well for me. I have found in the past that Chico’s pants size 2 (large) and 3 (x-large) have a following due to what I have heard is a great fit.

Well, this time I wondered if shirts would have the same success. The following four shirts are some of what I found and sold.

Collectively these four shirts cost me $7.75 and they all sold the first week listed collectively for $34.24!

Now here is the following that I am talking about.

I wasn’t going to pass these size 3 (x-large) Chico’s Platinum denim capri pants up even though they weren’t 50% off and I had to pay $5.99 for them.

They sold the second week listed for $20.50!

Can’t wait to find more Chico’s!

Best of eBay Week 2

Well another week and some great sells.

Can I just say, that with 20 items sold the first week, the shipping went really well! It is so easy to print postage on line and use the FREE postal service packaging supplies. Then you can have the mailman pick them up at my door or just walk in the post office and drop them off. Wow, so EASY!

Here is the “Best of this weeks” highlights.

Chico’s XL Size 3 pants have done well both weeks for me. There are some ladies out there that just love them. These khaki capris were:

Purchased for $4.99

Sold for $19.81

Talbots Tropical Sleeveless dress Size 4

Purchased for $4.99

Sold for $16.75

DSC03633

J. Jill sleeveless linen dress Size XL

DSC03619

Tommy Hilfiger denim shorts Size 16W

Marsh Landing Khaki Overall dress Size XL

I know that it doesn’t always sound like much, but you list many items. Your profit covers your costs. If something doesn’t sale, you relist. So these are some of my highlights and what might seem like a little on these few items adds up to $60.00+ It is so much fun hunting down bargains and then seeing how many people are watching an item. You can almost always tell when the bidding is going to become hurried on an item. You know what I am talking about. People are trying to snipe things at the last minute to be the highest bidder. Then at the end of the day, you see your profit for doing something fun, relaxing, and useful for the environment. Oh, I forgot at the end of the day you have to prepare some packages. I better get packing! Can’t wait to see what next week brings.

Best of eBay Week 1

I began my “thrifting to profit” journey this week.

One of my favorite blogs to follow is My Dear Trash. They tell you how they sell on eBay and Craigslist. Yea, yea, yea. Blah, blah, blah.

I know you aren’t impressed yet. You think that isn’t exciting. No I am not selling stuff that I have. It is more exciting than that. I promise, read on.

First, I took my love for shopping to the thrift store and went searching for things that could resale for more. Brand name clothing in great condition, super treasures that you can turn into something beautiful…

Are you getting it? Turning someone else’s trash into treasures, or in my case “thrifting to profit.”

So this week I began selling on eBay…

"Best of this week" highlights

DSC03547

GAP denim overalls.

Purchased at Goodwill for $0.99.

Sold on eBay for $43.00!!!!!!!

What? I bet however took them to Goodwill had no idea.

DSC03546

Calvin Klein denim overalls.

Purchased at Goodwill for $0.99.

Sold on eBay for $15.00

DSC03561

Ann Taylor LOFT dress.

Purchased at ARC for $3.99.

Sold on eBay for $18.00

Now I have not admit that my success on the overalls is due to My Dear Trash. I would have never known that overalls were so hot and probably would have passed them up!

Tune in each week to see future highlights of the “thrifting to profit” journey.

Also check out Kelly and Laura at My Dear Trash if you haven’t already. You will learn so much and see some beautiful trash!

Thrifting for Treasures

Okay so yesterday I went to the mailbox and inspiration had arrived!

DSC03598

It was late and I had to get some sleep so that I could be up when the little one woke this morning, but falling asleep was difficult knowing that I wanted to sit and dig into the Pottery Barn catalogs.

If you don’t get them, go here and request them.

So this morning, I sat with my breakfast and pined over all the pretty things.

What then was I to do with myself except get in the car and head to the thrift stores.

Here is what I scored:

DSC03599 DSC03600

This basket is a huge 22 inches across filling the coffee table and looking so PB “like”. Not sure what I will do with it, but I like looking at it.

DSC03602

Then these goodies looked to PB “like” for me to pass on!

  1. The wire basket will eventually look great by the tub filled with rubber duckies.
  2. The three glass votives will make a shelf or mantle with sand and candle. Wonder how they would look with a number on them?
  3. The blue frame will get a makeover and new purpose.
  4. The small divided frame will be spruced up, but I think the shells are looking very PB “like”.
  5. The cute glass covered dish will also find a special place filled with something wonderful.

DSC03606

The cute cutting board will get a makeover and decorate the kitchen. Oh, the things I can do with the wood candle holder, like this. You can never have too many! The soap dish is cute and needed.

Then the two larger bowls….

I admittedly am not a china collector or expert, but decided to surf the marking on the bottom.

(You know it said England , maybe that’s important?)

China Marking

What I found the butter dish on an antique site for $95

Are you kidding?

Maybe this is worth more than the $1.99 that I spent.

To be on the safe side, I may go back tomorrow to round up the rest!

If you know anything about china or anyone who does, let me know.

DSC03607

Seriously if I were the pee you pants kind of girl, I would have when I found this spice set.

Of course they weren’t together, but I found them both. The bottom shelf was broken, so I asked if they would discount it. Yep, they gave it to me for $2.

It is tongue and groove and slips together well, so a little Gorilla glue should do the trick.

I have great plans for this if you want a sneak peak, check out what I plan to copycat that Remodelaholic did.

Of course the other item is four spindle legs for $3.99. No ideas yet, but it will come.

DSC03608

Now there is some money to be made here.

  • Tan capri Chico’s pants
  • Navy Lauren skirt
  • Pink Tommy Hilfiger capri pants

These are all larger sizes and will resale on Ebay well.

I will do a post on that later, but I currently have 38 items listed and am making a NICE profit. These items will have to wait till posting time next week.

Of course the baby clothes are great and today the little one got REI blue swimsuit and the cute camouflage set!

The eagle picture is a real photo with a signature. I don’t think it is valuable, but it sure is beautiful. Don’t know what I will do with it, but my dad loves eagles and the little could always use it in the cute camouflage nursery.

Ahh! It was a great day and certainly “a piece of the better life.”

Then as if nature was smiling on me and my great finds, I was blessed with a rainbow and the beautiful cherry tree blossoms.

Rainbow Blossoms

How was your day?
